June 6, 2009

During the week of July 6-10, 2009, ICG Racing's "Nando" Huerta Jr. attended the Mary Smith Motorcross School. Marty Smith is an AMA 3-time National Motorcross Champion. Nando had the opportunity to live the life of a motorcross racer, living with a fellow local racers and traveling to So-Cal motorcross parks, working with Marty Smith on improving their skills. The week long training proved to be a challenging, yet exciting and educational experience. Nando is looking forward to returning again next year!

ICG Racing Co-Sponsored a motorcycle in the 2009 S.C.O.R.E. Baja 500. This year’s race included over 275 entries from 25 States and 12 countries (U.S., Mexico, Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, and Portugal). The total mileage of this year’s race was 432.51 miles (4 checkpoints). The race course was laid out over some of Baja California’s most challenging deserts, mountains and valleys. ICG’s Team Riders (Juan Luis Villasenor, Gerardo Huerta, Daniel Huerta, Alberto Cota and Salvador Sainz) were supported by a large Pit Crew made up of family and friends. The Pit Crew assisted the riders with radio communications, mechanical support, map reading, logistical coordination and of course, lots of CHEERING! The team got a great start and by mile marker 167, the team was in fourth place in their class and coming on strong. Unfortunately, a mechanical engine problem caused the engine to shut off at mile marker 171 and the team was out of the race. We’re already making plans to gear up for the 2009 Baja 1000 in November! Thanks to our co-sponsor on this year’s Baja 500 Race Team – THX Transport, LLC, SA Corp., S.D. PartsTruck, Reliable Plumbing & Drain Service and Adelita Bar.

The second place finish gave Nando the First Place Overall Points finish in the 4 race series. Nando is looking forward to competing in the San Diego Motocross Association’s 2009 Sizzling Summer Race Series, which will be a 5 race series (racers must participate in at least 4 races to quality for Overall Points). We’ll keep you posted!

ICG Racing 2009 Season Opener

ICG Racing's 2009 motocross season kicked off on February 8, 2009 with Fernando "Nando" Huerta Jr.'s participation in the District 38 - All American 100 Desert Scramble. Nando raced aboard his ICG, LLC-Sponsored 2008 Honda CRF 150RB for the first time since having moved up from the 65cc class. The overnight Imperial Valley rains left the 1 1/2 mile track in perfect racing condition as the wet sands eliminated all dust from the air and traction was excellent. After all five laps of racing were completed...Nando came home with a 4th place overall trophy!

The weekend was full of motocross activity as Nando attended the 2008-09 California Mini-Motorcycle Club (CMMC) Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Nando received his CMMC 2008 Points Qualifier Trophy for having captured enough race points throughout the 2008 CMMC Season. Nando ended the season in 3rd Place for the 8-11 Jr. Cycle 65CC Class. Thanks to all our sponsor's for their support in 2008!

2008 Season

ICG Racing Results - December 5, 2008

ICG Racing's Fernando Huerta participated in the District-38 Roadrunner Off Road Racing Christmas Classic on December 5, 2008. This desert-style race course took place at the Superstition Off-Highway Vehicle Park in Imperial Valley, California. This race included may of the riders Nando frequently races against at Barona Oaks Motocross Park, so the racing was fast and furious! Nando finished in 2nd Place in the 85cc-150cc Open and 3rd Place Overall! Happy Holidays from ICG Racing!

ICG Racing Results - August 31, 2008

ICG's Fernando Huerta Jr. participated in the 2008 CMMC Mini-National Motocross Event at Barona Oaks on August 30 and 31. This annual race is the highlight of CMMC's motocross season and has riders coming from out of state to compete in the two day event. A practice session crash three days prior to the event left Nando with a deep bruise on his knee, and a severe mechanical problem with his motorcycle also left his participation questionable.

Fernando raced with a heavily bandaged knee and finished 14th out of 26 riders in a highly competitive 65cc Jr Cycle class. This class included many riders from outside San Diego County and riders who get full factory support by companies such as KTM and Kawasaki.

Local CMMC rider Taylor Craig (CMMC #777), who recently left the 65cc class for the 150cc class, let Fernando borrow her motorcycle so he could participate in the event. Taylor also had some very impressive races this weekend...blowing by many of the boys in her class! Thanks Taylor for the support!

ICG Racing Heads South of the Border!

ICG Racing’s Fernando “Nando” Huerta participated in his first international race on July 20, 2008. Nando ventured south of the border to Tecate, Baja California, Mexico to race in the La Puerta Racing Club’s 2008 Tecate Off-Road Challenge. This race was unlike the closed track racing Nando usually participates because the course consisted of four 9 mile loops in a “track” marked by color specific flags, through the unforgiving Baja desert. This race also grouped riders of various ages and motorcycle sizes all going for the checked flag at the same time!

Nando got off to a slow start and was caught behind a group of riders who were older and on larger motorcycles in the first lap. Nando worked himself up to a respectable place “mid-pack” by the second lap and continued closing in on the leaders. Nando’s hard work paid off and at the final flag…Second Place in the 65cc class!

Nando returned home with a cool Second Place trophy and a strong desire to return to Mexico for future races.

ICG Racing Results - June 28, 2008

Race Weekend #5 of the 2008 Barona Oaks Motocross Season took place on June 28, 2008. This race weekend was very special in that it marked ICG Racing’s Fernando “Nando” Huerta’s first venture into the competitive 65cc Jr. Cycle Class. Nando was recently promoted to the 65cc Jr. Cycle class after winning the 2008 Intro to Motocross 65cc Spring Series.

Moto #1 – Nando’s main focus for this first race weekend was to familiarize himself with the new track. The 65cc Jr. Cycle class races on Barona Oak’s Main Track #1, which is full of the major obstacles seen at professional motocross tracks, such as tabletop jumps, whoop sections, steep down-hills and a major “Step-up” main jump. Nando rode to a respectable 5th place finish.

Moto #2 – Nando got a good start off the gate and found himself mid-pack for most of the 5 lap race. Nando took advantage of a few of the other riders’ falls and mishaps to finish in 4th place.

Nando’s 5-4 race results were good enough for a 3rd Place finish and a spot on the podium!

ICG Racing Results - June 15, 2008

The 2008 Father’s Day Race at Barona Oaks Motocross Park took place on June 15, 2008 and it proved to be a very exciting event. A large group of riders made the racing competitive and ICG’s Fernando “Nando” Huerta was in the middle of the action. Nando got off to a slow start at the starting gate in Moto #1 and had to fight his way to a 2nd place finish. Moto #2 saw Nando getting off to a much better start and actually grabbed the “holeshot” by being the first rider into the first turn after the gate dropped. Nando never looked back and rode to a first place finish. The 2-1 finish gave him an overall First Place finish for the weekend.

Nando captured the 2008 Spring Series Championship (a four race series-in which a rider must compete in a minimum of three races) for his class by accumulating enough 1st and 2nd place finishes. Nando was presented with a 2008 Spring Series Championship plaque. Congratulations Nando!

ICG Racing Results - May 18, 2008

The fourth race of the Barona Oaks Motocross Spring Series took place on May 18th, 2008. The racing action was fast and exciting and ICG Racing’s sponsored rider, Fernando “Nando” Huerta, was in the middle of the action.

MOTO #1- Nando got off to a good start at the drop of the gate and found himself in second place after the first turn. In the second of eight laps, Nando overshot a turn while attempting to pass the first place rider and crashed. Nando quickly got back into the race, but had been passed by the majority of the riders. Nando made a hard charge in the final six laps and finished in fourth place.

MOTO #2- Knowing the he needed a good Moto #2 result to finish on the podium; Nando blew out of the gate and quickly took over the first place position. Nando never looked back and had eight solid laps of racing to take the checkered flag.

Nando’s 4-1 result gave him a second place finish for the weekend in the Intro To Motocross 65cc Class!

ICG Racing Results - April 27, 2008

Race #3 of the Barona Oaks 2008 Motocross Season took place on April 27, 2008 and once again, ICG Racing was there battling for a spot on the winner’s podium. ICG Racing’s sponsored rider, Fernando “Nando” Huerta, fought through a tough field of riders and 100 degree heat on his way to his best showing of the season. Nando finished in second place in Moto #1 and first place in Moto #2. Nando’s 2-1 finish combination gave him an overall 1st place ranking and top spot on the podium for the Intro To Motocross 65cc Class.

Nando had a very busy, motocross-filled weekend as he was invited for a day of riding at a private track owned by Former AMA Motocross Racer Josh Tarentino. Josh Tarentino is in the process of opening up a motocross school near San Diego and Nando will be attending lessons to work on his motocross skills for his future move to a highly competitive 65cc Junior Cycle Class.

ICG Racing Results - April 6, 2008

Race #3 of the Barona Oaks Motocross Season took place on April 6th, 2008, and when the dust settled, ICG Racing's sponsored rider, Fernando "Nando" Huerta found himself on the winners' podium. A combination of a 2nd Place finish in Moto #1 and a 3rd Place finish in Moto #2 left Nando with an overall 2nd Place standing and a grin from ear to ear. The race weekend saw a lot of new faces in the Intro To Motocross class, with riders coming from as far away as Cerritos, California and Ensenada, Baja California – Mexico. All the new competitors made the event a competitive, yet friendly environment. The Barona Oaks Motocross Season continues with Race #4 on April 27, 2008. We are looking forward to an exciting race and will bring you the highlights! Unfortunately, we received word that the TOO MUCH FUN race scheduled for April 26 in Rosarito, Baja California-Mexico has been postponed. ICG Racing's first venture into Mexico will be delayed until May 2008.

ICG Racing Race Results - March 31st

ICG Racing got back on the winner's podium this weekend at the CMMC MX Season Kick-Off Event. The two day event put on by the California Mini-Motorcycle Club took place at Barona Oaks Raceway on March 29th and 30th. The event marks the official start to the CMMC's 2008 Motocross Season. The event's race program called for Moto #1 (race) to be run on Saturday, March 29th and Moto#2 to be run on Sunday, March 30th.

ICG Racing's sponsored rider, Fernando "Nando" Huerta Jr., grabbed the Holeshot Award, given to the first rider off the gate and into turn #1. Nando Received a free pair of SCOTT Goggles and a free entry into the next CMMC race. After exchanging the lead several times with another local CMMC rider, he finished in second place.

A steady over-night and early morning rain made race conditions for Moto #2 extremely MUDDY!

Moto #2 once again saw Nando grab the Holeshot Award (free FMF hat) and make his way to a very muddy, hard fought, second place finish...giving him second place overall for the 65cc Intro To MX Class.

A very exciting moment at the track occurred when Fernando was one of several riders who where presented with a Qualifier Trophy for the 2007 CMMC Season. Qualifier Trophies are presented to riders who accumulate enough podium finishes throughout the race season.
